Sports Therapy
Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, treatment & rehabilitation of pain or injury. Treatment modalities include, sports massage, joint mobilisation, electrotherapy or dry needling.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is a deep form of soft tissue mobilisation. it can be applied in a sporting snd non sporting context. Sports massage involves a wide range of techniques that helps relieve muscular tension, breaks down adhesions and mobilises soft tissue to reduce pain.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.
It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is the western form of acupuncture, used only in the treatment for pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points.
During a dry needling treatment, one or more thin, monofilament needles are inserted into a muscle or trigger point to reduce its irritable and dysfunctional effect on muscle tissue. This often emerges because of injury, overuse or poor movement patterns.
When dry needling is applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow and reduce pain
Perrin Technique
The Perrin Technique™ is an osteopathic approach developed in 1989, originally for ME/CFS, that aims to manually drain toxins from the cerebrospinal fluid into the lymphatic system.
Movement of the spine and massage of the soft tissues in the head, neck, back and chest direct all the toxins out of the lymphatic system and into the blood, where they are eventually detoxified in the liver.
Eventually, with less poisons affecting the central nervous system, the hypothalamus and the sympathetic nervous system begin to function correctly, restoring health to the patient.
